At an early age, I discovered drawing was fun. Later, adding color led to painting with acrylics. A desire to lift the subject off a canvas inspired the desire to sculpt. Yet neither the passion nor motivation to explore art as a profession or serious hobby evolved. It was around age 13 when that mystical "Eureka" moment thundered loud and clear.
There was no doubt. God put me on this planet to write and create. However, it became painfully evident that God's plan opposed mine. I was ready to get started right after graduation. I even learned, well, comically and most unsuccessfully attempted to learn how to smoke a pipe.
I dabbled with writing as I began a lengthy diversion into the furniture industry. At the time, I didn't realize I needed to evolve from working in and then assisting with managing a carving plant, which eventually led to my ascension into Vice President of Marketing at a furniture manufacturing company. It was a fun, though challenging, job requiring the utilization of my writing skills as well as artistic abilities. That was the best job I'd ever had. I was designing ads, writing copy, and art-directing photo shoots, as well as assisting with some videos.
The crash in 2008 brought my career in the furniture industry to a bitter-sweet end. Suddenly, I was unceremoniously and brutally kicked onto the "struggling writer" path I was eager to embark on as a much younger, innocently naive man.
Since transitioning into my "dream job," I've developed two TV program concepts into properties that were seriously considered—one by a cable network and the other by a major broadcast network. Neither of which were picked up, so there were no paychecks.
Eventually, after investing my heart and soul, not to mention countless hours, days, weeks, and even years, along with boundless energy into developing ideas that I had to trust people not to steal the concept, the Lord hit me square between the eyes with the sledgehammer of reality. He had just as well verbally spoken, "If you want credit and a paycheck for what you create, then write your stories into novel format.”
The growing, diverse body of works, which I'm humbly proud and eager to share with the world, include: "Return to Faith," my first Faith-Based series, "Defiant Victim," a SiFy/Paranormal adventure from which I heavily relied on my furniture industry experience, and "Merlyn And The Mortal's Curse," an action-packed Fantasy/Adventure for all ages. The main character was inspired by one of the most inspiring human beings I was blessed to know his entire life.
These stories are just the beginning.
As loyal readers, your thoughts are extremely important. Be they good, bad, or indifferent. What you honestly think about every story and each character is important. You are actually my boss. You determine if I will stay on the job or be sent on my way if I no longer effectively keep you turning pages.
My job and passion is to interest and entice you to continue investing your valuable time and interest. To encourage you to stay packed and ready to go where the characters go. To see what they see. All while learning amazing secrets about yourself, the world around you, and your purpose for being alive.
It is also my hope that you will come to grasp more about why you are a unique and active participant in a limitless universe.
